
| Work Activity Services a. Description The Work Activity Program provides various work skills training (including various assembly tasks) and habilitation training to enable the clients to become more self-sufficient in their daily living. Services are provided in facilities located on Hwy. 371 West of Nashville and serve clients in Howard, Pike, parts of Hempstead and Sevier Counties. b. Admission criteria Client must be 16 years or older and have a disability such as Mental Retardation, Cerebral palsy, Autism, or Epilepsy. Client's assessed needs can be served by WAC Program. c. Training Provided during: 7:45 am until 3:00pm, Monday-Friday, 12 months per year d. Types of training 1. Work skills a. Piece work assembly and work related skills. b. Work related skills, i.e., increasing work tolerance, develop flexibility in various jobs, learning to work with peers, following directions. 2. Habilitation Training a. Social skills b. Daily living skills c. Time management skills e. Discharge/exit criteria 1. The client cannot benefit from the work training provided, but may be more appropriately placed in another component at the Center. 2. The client is still displaying inappropriate behavior even after a behavior management program has been designed and implemented. 3. Client becomes partly to wholly employed in competitive work situation. 4. Client voluntarily withdraws. f. Transportation services are provided from and to each client's home |
